Free Portfolio Review
Most Canadians can't answer two questions about their own portfolio: "What does it cost?" and "Why these funds?" Our free review answers both โ independently, because we have nothing to sell you.
How it works
- Self-serve (instant): enter your holdings in the portfolio tracker, then ask the Genie things like "What's the weighted MER of my portfolio?" or "Am I over-concentrated in Canada?" Genie+ members get portfolio-aware answers automatically.
- Human review (free, by request): send us your fund list below. We'll reply with a plain-English breakdown: total cost in dollars per year, asset mix, overlap, and the questions worth asking your advisor.
What we look at
- True cost โ weighted MER, in percent and dollars/year.
- Series check โ are you in Series A paying for advice you don't receive?
- Diversification โ geography, asset mix, and the classic five-funds-that-own-the-same-banks problem.
- Fit โ does the risk level match your stated horizon?
What we will never do: recommend specific purchases, share your data, or pass you to a salesperson. For personalized advice, see our advisor directory.
Frequently asked questions
Is the portfolio review really free?
Yes. It's how we demonstrate what independent education looks like. No follow-up sales call โ we don't sell investments. Is this financial advice?
No โ it's education about what you own. We'll flag costs and concentrations; what to do about them is between you and (if you choose) a licensed advisor.
